RCASENC Celebrates their Annual Award Winners
WILMINGTON, N.C. (February 22, 2024)
The REALTORS® Commercial Alliance of Southeastern North Carolina (RCASENC) joined the Cape Fear CREW 6th Annual Awards of Excellence ceremony to recognize their annual award winners. RCASENC Annual Awards took place on February 22, 2024, at the Wilmington Convention Center. The presentation recognized three award categories whose award recipients showcased excellence and leadership in commercial real estate. The three categories included the 2023 Commercial Real Estate Rockstar Award, the 2023 Commercial Member of the Year Award, and the 2023 Commercial Lifetime Achievement Award.
The 2023 recipient of the Commercial Real Estate Rockstar Award is best known for his infectiously positive attitude, which is described as contagious around his office. Not only does he brighten a room, his morals, ethics, and values inform everything he does. He began as an intern at his current firm during his last semester at UNCW. He has learned quite a lot from his mentors around the office. His notable growth over the past three years informs the positive trajectory of his commercial real estate career. As a lifelong North Carolinian, this recipient loves golfing and fishing and happens to be recently engaged. The 2023 Commercial Real Estate Rockstar Award goes to John Gavin with Cameron Management.
Every year, RCASENC likes to recognize a member who has consistently gone above and beyond in their leadership and service to the organization. The recipient of the 2023 Commercial Member of the Year Award is going to someone who deserves it many times over. The RCASENC member’s pedigree speaks for itself through his volunteer service, career achievements, and father of two young sons. He has served the mission of RCASENC faithfully as Director, Treasurer, and Chair of the Brand Development Committee. Not only is he vice president and partner in his firm and a Broker In Charge, he somehow finds time to be a top-producing broker in investment sales, tenant rep, and commercial development. Our 2023 Commercial Member of the Year goes to Byron Aynes with the Overton Group. 
The Commercial Lifetime Achievement Award celebrates a member who has demonstrated first-class service, leadership, and professionalism. This impact is seen not only in their firm but is revered in our regional community as a whole. The 2023 recipient of this award is a Wilmington native who began his brokerage career in 1981 and has been a partner in his firm since 1987. His client base includes everything from national firms to individual investors. This history of his volunteer leadership is expansive and includes Director and Past President of RCASENC. He has served as a Director for the Cape Fear REALTORS® Board. And continues to be involved with generously offering his ideas, advice, and guidance for successive leadership teams. Not only has this recipient served the commercial real estate industry, he holds a deep belief in the merits of community involvement. His service with Wilmington Downtown Inc., Wilmington Rotary Club, Wilmington Chamber of Commerce, and New Hanover County Planning Board, to name a few, has uniquely added to the fabric of our community. Hansen Matthews is the deserving recipient of the 2023 Commercial Lifetime Achievement Award.
